The X-Rail can be utilised on both faces of the formwork and once poured creates exposed concrete walls. Uses might include external retaining walls, or walls which do not require thermal effciency. Alternatively it can be combined with the standard R-Rail, thus creating one side exposed concrete, one side insulated. Useful for example in the design and creation of lift shafts, it has recently been used to avoid part C waterproofing in below ground applications, allowing use of Part A and B or Part A and A. The U-Value is established by increasing the internal insulation thickness. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
