R‑Wall is one of the few ICF systems truly suited to basement construction, delivering strength, efficiency and reliability in a single streamlined solution. Thanks to its robust design, a single R‑Wall structure can function as both the retaining wall and the main wall of the home—saving valuable space while reducing build time and overall costs. Unlike traditional methods that rely on 7.5‑Newton blocks and multiple cold joints, R‑Wall basements are poured monolithically using C35 concrete, that’s 35 Newtons of strength (almost 5 times stronger) which creates a powerful monolithic shell with significantly enhanced structural integrity. This strength can be further increased through reinforcement placement R‑Wall’s cleverly engineered R‑Tie system, which provides accurate 40mm or 50mm rebar cover while keeping ties small enough to maintain an unobstructed cavity for smooth concrete flow.
What truly sets R‑Wall apart below ground is its closed‑cell insulation, which continues to thermally perform even when saturated—so resilient, in fact, it can sit in water for 25 years with almost no moisture uptake. This makes R‑Wall uniquely capable of meeting modern basement requirements, where building regulations demand two‑part waterproofing for habitable spaces. Even if one waterproofing layer fails, the materials between them must continue to perform, and R‑Wall’s insulation ensures exactly that.
